Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State today organised its 1st in-house training for staff in the administrative and higher executive cadres of the institution’s Registry.
Federal Polytechnic Ayede is one of the six polytechnics established by the Federal Government in 2021 and it has admitted its pioneer students in the Schools of Engineering as well as Science and Technology.
The training had three sessions facilitated by seasoned administrators and scholars.
Mr Samuel Dare, an Assistant Registrar and Head of Academic Affairs Division, took the participants on the topic “Understanding the Fundamentals of Report and Minutes Writing as an Administrator in a Typical Academic Institution” while the Acting Dean of Student, Affairs who also doubles as Head of Department of Public Administration, Mr Musbau Afolabi, took the participants on “Leveraging the Impact of Interpersonal Relationship in the Efficient Delivery of Administrative Goals”.
Equally, Mr Olutayo Ajala, an Assistant Registrar and Head of Establishment Division, presented on the topic ” The Place of Etiquetttes in the Polytechnic Administration and Operational Competence”.
Speaking at the opening event of the training, the Rector of the Institution, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, represented by the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr Samuel Oke Ogunniyi, expressed confidence that the training would impact the staff’s skills with a view to delivering in their responsibilities as public servants.
Mr Gafar Kolapo Olatinwo who acted on behalf of the institution’s Registrat, Mr Akin Odesola, thanked the management and urged the participants to make the best use of the training.
The address read in part: “I want to welcome you all to this auspicious occasion, being our Registry’s 1st In-House Training since the inception of Federal Polytechnic Ayede. Registry, as the administrative hub in the Institution, is responsible for the efficient coordination of operations.
“A lacuna in the performance of this herculean responsibility may potentially be injurious to the general well-being of the Institution. To avoid the above scenario, we must consciously train our administrators to be savvy and agile-minded. This is the major inspiration behind the Registry’s In-House Training initiative.
“I want to specifically appreciate the Rector, Engr. Dr Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, FNSE, for his ardent commitment to the training and development of staff in the Polytechnic. We were pleasantly elated when he wholeheartedly subscribed to the training initiative and approved our proposal.
“Let me unequovocally mention here that this in-house training we are holding today has been the vision of our amiable Registrar, Mr Akin Odesola, with whose support, prayer and encouragement we are holding this training today. We are forever grateful for your leadership, Sir.”
He said the vision of the Registry is to ensure that the training holds quarterlyquarterly, saying “As a matter of fact, we are also looking at the possibility of upscaling this training to Annual Training Workshop, where we would host renowned facilitators from similar institution.”
Also at the opening and closing ceremonies were the Bursar, Mrs Rashidat Titilola Oladepo, represented by Deputy Bursar, Mr Lukman Buari; Dean of School of Management Sciences, Mr Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo; Dean of School of Science and Technology, Dr Mukhtar Oyewale Akintunde; Acting Dean of School of Engineeeing, Engr. Dr. T. M. Adepoju; Acting Dean of School of Environmental Technology, Arc. Dr. Kolawole Opeyemi Morakinyo and Heads of Departments.
