A socio-political group in Cross River State, Nigeria, United Bekwarra Frontiers, has drawn the attention of the Chairman of Internal Revenue Service of the State on the ongoing character slander and economic sabotage in Bekwara local government area by Signor Omang Idiege.
The group stated in its letter to the Revenue Chairman that Omang Idiege and his family have had an active monopoly on all revenue activities in Bekwarra since 2015, until recently when other consultants were brought in. They have fought any individual or group of people who dares to threaten their revenue dominance, as is their custom. According to the group, Omang’s action is evidenced by the unhealthy feud between him and the then-commissioner for agriculture, Prof Anthony Eneji, which resulted in the tragic loss of life in 2015.
According to the group, “his economic sabotage dates back to 2015, few years after his people denied him a return to the Cross River State House of Assembly. Since then he has been in active business of illicit revenue collection for personal use. We ordinarily expected that his appointment into state cabinet by the Governor Ayade administration would put an end to this grave economic sabotage, but instead he recruited the services of some of his jobless sons to hold brief for him.”
“As at today, four of his sons are actively involved in illegal revenue collection, namely: Edward Omang Idiege, Peter Omang Idiege, Adie Omang Idiege, Stephen Omang Idiege. The above listed names have personal revenue subheads to themselves. It should be noted here that the Omang Idiege’s family is the only family in the entire state where four siblings together with their father are actively involved in revenue collection. Revenue collection in Bekwarra has become a prerogative of Omang Idiege and sons.”

We the United Bekwarra Frontiers write to notify you of the incessant blackmail and character slander being targeted at revenue consultants in Bekwarra by Signor Omang Idiege and family.

It should be noted here that the Omang Idiege’s family is the only family in the entire state where four siblings together with their father are actively involved in revenue collection. Revenue collection in Bekwarra has become a prerogative of Omang Idiege and sons.
Omang Idiege’s legendary economic sabotage is not domicile in illegal revenue collection alone. He was awarded the contract of building a state of the art Groundnut Oil Factory in Bekwarra by the Ben Ayade’s administration. While the project lay moribund and uncompleted till date, the contractor has built and tastefully furnished a mansion in his country home within a year to celebrate his latest acquisition of the Ada Bekwarra title after disrobing the Late Chief Linus Okom immediately after his death.
He also completed the building of a massive duplex, a multi million commercial apartment along Akai Efa axis. One will wonder, aside Omang Idiege which other cabinet member of the Ayade’s administration could afford to embark on such an expensive personal project?
Maybe this explains the disparity between the current state IGR which has doubled and witnessed an increased of over 100%. We can easily tell those who put our state on reverse motion in their devilish quest to quench their insatiable desire.
It is known fact everywhere in Bekwarra that Omang Idiege thinks only about himself, his children and his immediate interests. This explains why he is constantly fighting to put everyone down so that him his children can lord over everybody. He has young Bekwarra graduates as his personal driver and domestic staff, while his children drive exotic SUVs and live in luxury far beyond their means. To Omang Idiege, if it’s not for him and his children, it shouldn’t be for anyone else.
As at the time of this report, The United Bekwarra Frontiers have it on good record that Omang Idiege is still hiding three trucks belonging to the Cross River State Government. A white Toyota Hilux and two Ford Rangers. There’s almost no sector of state he does not manipulate for his personal gains. It is practically impossible for any administration to have the likes of Omang Idiege in a cabinet and succeed, no wonder the previous government didn’t meet the expectations of many with all the lofty ideas. People with divisive tendencies, gluttony and selfishness shouldn’t be entrusted with public offices.
Sadly, Omang Idiege has proven over the years to be very desperate and deadly, especially when his interest is threatened. In the elections of 2007 where he contested against the late Arc. Tony Akobi, many people thought it was mere political, but it ended up becoming the last of the late former chairman. In 2015, when his interest went against the commissioner for agriculture, he utilized the combined services of some corrupt police and thugs and perpetrated terror until lives were lost.
The current antics of sponsoring hatchet media campaign against Dr Tom Omang by some faceless bloggers is another cheap attempt to destroy another promising Bekwarra man. Our interest in this is to refute all the baseless allegations against Dr Tom Omang and forestall every devilish plot against him. We hold in high authority that every item contained in that poorly scripted article, alleging illegal revenue collection and extortion by Dr Omang is a hurried attempt by Omang Idiege and his sons who have been eating fat from the illegal proceeds of unremitting revenue collection to smear the good name of Dr Tom Omang. Their allegations are baseless, absurd and blatant lies.
In reality, Omang Idiege and his sons whose names are mentioned above are the kingpins of dishonest businesses, blackmail and extortion in Bekwarra. In their dishonesty, Omang Idiege defrauded the Cross River Government after failing to deliver the multi million groundnut oil factory awarded to him. He went further to ripe off governor of millions of Naira, while sponsoring and clearly mobilizing support for his bosom friend, the governorship candidate of the PDP. It is on record that election money that was provided for unit coordinators for the last elections ended with his children and unaccounted for till date.
Dr Tom Omang is a seasoned academic in the university of Calabar with chains of businesses across Calabar. It is to his credits and other honest revenue consultants like himself that the Internally Generated Revenue of the current administration is on steady progression and adjudged as one of the best in the country. All thanks to his leadership and admirable work ethics which has translated into tremendous success.
While Dr Omang and his team of revenue coordinators are working tirelessly to improve revenue of the state, their activities have greatly threatened Omang Idiege and his team who upon leaving office as a former commissioner has been surviving on the illegal collection of revenue by his sons, while waiting for the minister of FCT to empower his bosom friend, Sandy Onor so he can be considered for contracts. We have concrete evidence of his political activities against the emergence of His Excellency, Prince Bassey Otu and all the APC candidates.
Below is how Omang Idiege has empowered his sons through the illicit proceeds of illegal revenue collection.
EDWARD OMANG IDIEGE, his first son graduated with third class after roaming three different Nigerian Universities. He has no history of working anywhere in Nigeria and has no known legitimate business outside heading a revenue unit in Anyikang, Bekwarra. He drives a Toyota Highlander SUV worth over 10million. He currently owns a private school in Gboko, a landed property in Makurdi, and recently moved into his personal bungalow worth about 40million in Gakem.
PETER OMANG IDIEGE, his second son was a student of Crutech, Ogoja campus. His academic status is speculative till date. He is unemployable, no skill, no known business identity outside heading a checkpoint in Ijibor, Bekwarra. He drives a Nissan Pathfinder SUV and a Pontiac Vibe. Currently living in his personal bungalow in Gakem.
ADIE OMANG IDIEGE, He graduated from the university of Calabar with a third class in Guidance and Counseling. He is currently with the Cross River State civil service and has revenue heads operating across Bekwarra with weekly payment for over five years now and drives a 2008 4runner SUV worth over 5million.
STEPHEN OMANG IDIEGE, a graduate assistant in the University of Calabar. He has been battling with a masters degree for over five years and already considering switching into a non academics due to academic difficulties. He drives a Lexus 350 SUV worth over 8million and currently building his personal house along tinapa road, Calabar.
The above revelations clearly states the reason behind the endless campaign of calumny against Dr Tom Omang. The saboteurs of our state revenue are gasping for their survival and nothing else . Every revelation as contained here are evident and open for verification by anyone in doubt. Omang Idiege and his sons are on a mission to perpetually ground the economy of the state through revenue sabotage.
Dr Tom Omang is the latest victim in the web of an organized blackmail and slander. Ever since the acquisition of the Ada Bekwarra title, a title held with pride, fairness and integrity by the Late Chief Linus Okom, Omang Idiege has constantly fought against the same people he should ordinarily fight for. He has been in constant fight from family unit to the clan and beyond. This demonstrates clearly the differences between the real Ada Bekwarra who lived and fought for the interests Bekwarra and the self seeking one who don’t mind killing the entire Bekwarra just to satisfy personal desires and interests.
We the United Bekwarra Frontiers are making our decision known that in an event of any harm done to Dr Tom Omang, his associates or any Bekwarra person on any revenue related matter, Omang Idiege and his children should be prepared to confront the entire Bekwarra. Enough is enough!
