A philosopher once said, “Those entrusted with positions of leadership who perform exceptionally well, even surpassing expectations, deserve to be praised and honoured accordingly during their life-time. Recognition and adoration hold true value when given to the living, as the departed can no longer appreciate or benefit from such gestures, once they transit to the great beyond.”
The above statement affirms the conviction of the revered Baálè of Ìjérù, His Royal Highness (HRH), Alhaji Yekeen Àyìnlá Lawal, who cheerfully recognises the significant and impacts of the Chairman of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area, in person of Honourable Timothy Oyedokun, a leader whose extra-ordinary service has left an indelible mark in the hearts of his people. After all, “The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionable integrity”, said Dwight D. Eisenhower.
More, HRH, Alhaji Yekeen Àyìnlá, who did not mince words during an interactive session at his residence, when he said that the council boss is a man whose administrative prowess, compassionate governance, and unyielding dedication to his community have made him a beacon of hope and transformation. In his words, “The Chairman stands out as a good administrator, whose meticulous attention to details and unwavering commitment to excellence have redefined governance in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area. His ability to manage the complexities of local administration with efficiency and transparency has not only earned him the respect of his people, but has also set a new benchmark for leadership.
Like the words of Maya Angelou: “If one is lucky, a solitary fantasy can totally transform one million realities.” Every policy, programme, and project under his stewardship bears the hallmark of thoughtful planning and execution, a testament to his devotion to the cause of community development. As Steve Jobs said: “Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.”
As a great performer, the Chairman has delivered and presently still doing his best on promises that many once thought impossible. “To have long-term success as a coach or in any position of leadership, you have to be obsessed in some way”, famously noted by Pat Riley. Thus, from infrastructure development to social welfare programmes, his tenure has been characterized by impactful achievements. Schools have been refurbished and equipped to nurture the dreams of young minds; markets have been constructed, upgraded, boosting economic activity and empowering local traders. His work ethic, combined with a clear vision for the future, continues to inspire confidence among his constituents. Winston Churchill once reiterated: “The nation will find it very hard to look up to the leaders who are keeping their ears to the ground.”
Further, the Chairman, according to HRH, Alhaji Yekeen Àyìnlá, is undoubtedly a meticulous leader, leaving no stone unturned in his quest to uplift the lives of the people. His attention to detail ensures that every project undertaken meets the highest standards, quality and serves the best interests of the community. Whether it is the provision of basic amenities, health-care initiatives, or educational reforms; his approach is guided by precision and a deep understanding of the needs of the people.
Described as being industrious, the Chairman’s relentless energy and tireless dedication to duty are unparalleled. He is often seen traversing the length and breadth of the council, engaging with residents, listening to their concerns, and finding solutions to their challenges. His hands-on approach to leadership underscores his belief in servant-leadership, a principle that has earned him the trust and admiration of his people.
Moving forward, the Chairman’s compassionate nature shines brightly in his care for the vulnerable members of his community. His administration has championed programmes that cater to the sick, elderly persons, widows, widowers, and orphans, ensuring that no one is left behind. The provision of free medical care, financial support, and essential supplies to these groups reflects his deep empathy and commitment to improving the quality of life for all. These initiatives have brought hope and relief to many, reinforcing the bond of trust between the Chairman and his people.
Significantly under his leadership, HRH, Alhaji Ayinla said the Council Boss has embraced a masses-oriented system of government, where policies and decisions are shaped by the aspirations of the people. By prioritizing the welfare of his constituents, the Chairman has demonstrated that governance is most effective when it is inclusive and people-centric. His open-door policy and consistent engagement with traditional rulers, community leaders, and the general populace; underscore his commitment to participatory governance.
Alhaji Ayinla said his indelible transformation of Ogbomoso South is a legacy that will endure for generations to come. His tenure has not only addressed immediate challenges but has also laid a solid foundation for sustainable development. As we reflect on his remarkable achievements, it is clear that his vision and actions will continue to inspire future leaders and guide the progress of the council. This is a confirmation of Arnold H. Glasgow’s statement, who remarked that “One of the tests of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency.”
In the light of his outstanding contributions, HRH Àyìnlá has enjoined the people of Ogbomoso South, including the revered Obas and Baales, to extend their unwavering support to the Chairman, saying that his exemplary leadership deserves our collective encouragement and cooperation, to enable him to deliver even more dividends of democracy. Together, we can build on the progress already achieved and chart a path toward greater prosperity and unity.
“As l recognise and eulogize the Chairman”, HRH Alhaji Yekeen said, “I do so with a profound sense of gratitude and admiration. His selflessness, dedication, and transformative leadership have not only uplifted Ogbomoso South but have also set a standard for others to emulate. May his legacy endure as a testament to the power of visionary leadership, and may his tenure continue to bring hope, progress, and joy to the people of Ogbomoso South Local Government Council”, he added. As Walter Lippmann once advised: “The final test of a leader is that he leaves behind him in other men the conviction and the will to carry on.”
To draw the curtains, HRH Alhaji Àyìnlá Lawal, the Baale of Ijeru,
charged the entire people of Ogbomoso South Local Government, to continue to give honour, respect and laudable advice to the Chairman, Honourable Oyeniyi Timothy Oyedokun, whom he reposed confidence in to maximise his leadership abilities as exceptional leader. He urged them to pledge their continued support for his mission to deliver a brighter future for the community.
