“A child who forgets his identity loses the pouch of his essence” Yoruba Proverb. The Yorùbá people in Africa have a rich cultural heritage encompassing diverse elements. Today, Yorùbá is one of the most prominent African cultures in the diaspora, despite the trans-Atlantic slave trade of black people away from home.
In light of such development, AIF YORUBA CULTURAL CENTRE (AIF YCC) was founded in 2017 by Israel Ayanwuyi. It is an initiative with the unwavering passion to promote and preserve the Yorùbá cultural identity while ensuring its posterity.
AIF works bear the mandate of turning lives with tongues by creating documentaries and educational films through research-based facts, localizations, and more. Israel Ayanwuyi and his team perceive the need to uphold their cultural identity, which is becoming essential.
Over the past three years, they made notable contributions to Yorùbá, the most widely spoken language outside Nigeria and Africa, through their video content and blog on aifacademy.org. Some of their documentaries are featured at International film festivals, while others are now essential resources for African studies globally.
The AIF YORUBA CULTURAL CENTRE, founded by Israel Ayanwuyi—who is known for African storytelling with a focus on Yoruba culture and tradition, spirituality and indigenous practices—has played a pivotal role in preserving our Yorùbá culture, enriching society, and fostering a deeper appreciation of African heritage in this past three years. And every one of us should be eager to see more from them. Cheers to a brighter Yorùbá cultural horizon! Àṣẹ!
