Ijeru Baptist Church in Ogbomoso recently had the privilege of hosting our dearest Nigerian Baptist Convention President, Rev’d Dr.Israel Adelani Akanji, during the re-dedication of the Lord’s Sanctuary and send off service in honour of our Senior Pastor, Rev.Olusanjo Stephen Ilufoye and his beloved family.
It was a wonderful day filled with joy and happiness as there were testimonies to the goodness of God.
At such great gathering, the church hosted the creme de la creme of the society, including kings, top civil servants, ministers of God, politicians and others too numerous to mention.
The multi-million Naira project started in the year 2019 through the combined efforts of our visionary Reverend, the Church building committee and all members of the Congregation with the support of notable philanthropists who gave their all for the actualisation of the project. Awards were later presented to individuals, families and others that contributed to the success of the project. Among those honoured were On Onpetu of Ijeru, Oba Sunday Oladapo Oyediran; Dr. Samson Adegoke Maigida; the family of Late Pa. John Ayodele Ojo-Odesola, the family of Late Dr. Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala; Prophet Isaac Oni; Rev. Dr Ademola Isola, former General Secretary of the Nigerian Baptist Convention; Mr. Marthin Luther King ably represented by one of his associates, Mr.Sanjo Oyetunji, and the family of Late Chief Henry Adetoyese Idowu.
Also, the church concurrently organized a befitting retirement service for our beloved Reverend who served the Lord meritoriously in our midst for 9 years. In his time as the Senior Pastor, the Church of God enjoyed rapid rise in fortune with unprecedented success. During his appreciation message, he donated a Bajaj Motorcycle for Missions work of the Church at Igbori Mission Field. He finally handed over the leadership of the church to the Diaconate Chairman.
The epoch event marked another milestone in the history of Ijeru Baptist Church, Ijeru-Oja, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, being the second Baptist Church in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria.
