Life expectancy of people in the African continent have risen by ten years, World Health Organisation (WHO) states.
Against the earlier expectancy of 46 years, the WHO has established that there is an increase of nearly 10 years making the the expectancy 56 years.
WHO said the rise is due to better access to health services in the continent.
The world health body, however, stated that the numbers is “still well below the global average of 64 years.”
Life expectancy is the number of years on average a person is expected to live – based on their age, gender and country.
WHO analysed life expectancy data from 47 African countries between 2000 and 2019.
It said the rise of life expectancy in Africa was greater than in any other region of the world, but warned the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) could affect the increase.
