A renowned Islamic scholar and Missionary Officer of the Oyo State Muslim Community, Alhaji Dr. Daud Amoo Alaga, has attributed the Nigerian leadership challenge to dearth of truth on the part of the leaders and the led.
He stated this in Ogbomoso while speaking to Pannigeriannews.com recently.
While lamenting that religion is used as a cover up, Alaga explained that Nigerians, generally, hide under religious identities to perpetrate evils and retard development.
“The Nigerian problem hangs on a tripod of leadership, followership and communication. As Nigerians, we donot say what we mean and we do not mean what we say.
“If you or I am going to politics today, we are not likely to follow the realm of truth from beginning to end.
“Even if you want to follow the path of truth, there will be influences, negative and positive, surrounding you,” Alaga said.
The Islamic leader charged Nigerians to be God-conscious, saying “Being God-conscious is not limited to Christians and Muslims. If everybody, including the traditionalists, is God-conscious in our thinkings and our actions, everything will work well.
“I have said it too that the major problem of Nigeria is communication. Look at our National Pledge. Very superlative in meaning. But when it comes to actuality and practicality, what do you find? Nullity!”
