The candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in the the 2023 election for the Ogbomoso North State Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olukunle Ajagbe (Onirese), on Tuesday, said the two acclaimed major political parties have provided him an ample opportunity to win the coming poll.
Hon. Ajagbe said the alleged imposition of candidates and lack of internal democracy in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will give him a resounding victory in 2023.
For the state constituency seat, the APC had reportedly picked a two-term member currently representing the constituency, Hon. Wumi Oladeji, while the PDP’s candidate is Mrs Olubisi Oluranti Oyewo-Michael.
Ajagbe, the medical director of Emmanuel Medical Centre, Ogbomoso, said the two candidates are not marketable, adding that Hon. Oladeji has been tested but failed.
He equally explained that the PDP’s candidate, Oyewo-Michael lacks the political wherewithal to stand election.
“One of the issues that will affect them is lack of internal democracy in their parties. I left PDP because I felt cheated. Even, if we were to go for consensus, they had to do it politely,” he stated.
Speaking on the APC candidate, he explained: “It was a surprise for me to me that she won the APC ticket.
“It is a plus to me. I have sampled people’s opinions. I do a lot on voter’s psychology. People say that her representation was not commendable at all.
“You see, she is my area sister. But people are tired of voting for her.”
Stressing on his chances of winning, Hon. Ajagbe maintained that teams from different political movements, parties and other non-partisan groups have been meeting him.
“She only depends on the name of late governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, which I mentioned humbly.
Now, she cannot have the votes they recorded for her last time,” he summed.
