A Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan on Thursday sentenced an 18-year-old scavenger, Ibrahim Khalid to three months imprisonment for stealing a cooking pot.
The Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Olori-Oke stated that she convicted Khalid for pleading guilty to the crime.
“Consequent upon Khalid’s guilty plea, he is sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labour,” Olori-Oke said.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, insp. Oluseye Akinola told the court that the convict committed the crime on Oct. 1, about 1.00 p.m at Elere-Odo Oba area of Boluwaji, Ibadan.
Akinola said that Khalid broke into the home of one Saudatu Safiu to steal the big aluminum pot valued at N45,000.
He said the offence contravened the provision of Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. ii, Law of Oyo State 2000.
