A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and immediate past Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Information, National Orientation, Values and Ethics, Hon. Segun Dokun Odebunmi, has launched Tinubu Support Group in Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State to mobilise party faithful and supporters as well as Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Hon. Odebunmi, who is the current Chairman of Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority, convened the strategic meeting aimed at consolidating grassroots support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, with a promise that the group would also be launched in Ogo-Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He urged stakeholders to begin early mobilisation across wards and polling units.
He charged attendees at the gathering to work assiduously to ensure the President secures a second term in office.
Speaking at the event held at Iresa-Pupa Town Hall, Odebunmi emphasised that the Tinubu administration has put in place policies designed to alleviate the sufferings of the people and stabilise the nation’s economy.
“You see, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has put in policies that will make our Naira stronger. By now, Nigerians can see the deliberate efforts to reposition our economy. These reforms are not easy, but they are necessary to secure a better future for our children,” he said.
He noted that while the current reforms may come with temporary challenges, they are strategic steps toward economic recovery, fiscal discipline and sustainable growth.
According to him, continuity in leadership will allow the administration to fully implement its programmes and consolidate on the gains already recorded.
The meeting witnessed hundreds of decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Hon. Olukunle Oloyede from Oko Ward, Surulere LGA said their decision to join the APC was informed by what he described as the sterling performance and accessibility of Hon. Odebunmi.
He expressed confidence that the party would continue to deliver dividends of democracy under President Tinubu’s leadership.
Asked on his next political move, Hon. Odebunmi said the only apsiration he has, for now, is the reelection of President Tinubu.
