A grassroots politician in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, Hon. Damilare Sunday Olusanjo, also known as DSO (BSQUARE), has formally declared his intention to contest the Ogbomoso North Constituency seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly in the 2027 general elections on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Hon. Olusanjo made the declaration on Thursday at the PDP Secretariat, Ajagungbade Plaza, Ogbomoso, in the presence of party leaders and stakeholders.
The chairman of the PDP in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area, Hon. Jimoh Sikiru, all ward chairmen, local government executive members, as well as ward executives from Aje/Ogungbado/Oke Agbede Ward were in attendance.
Addressing party faithful, elders, youths and women, the PDP aspirant recalled his participation in the 2023 Oyo State House of Assembly election, noting that although he did not clinch the party’s ticket at the time, he accepted the outcome in good faith and remained steadfast and loyal to the party.
He disclosed that the period following the 2023 election was challenging and that he briefly contemplated leaving the PDP due to frustration.
However, he said timely intervention and counsel by party elders and stakeholders encouraged him to stay, remain patient and trust in divine timing.
Olusanjo stressed that leadership is driven by impact rather than position, adding that he had continued to serve the people of Ogbomoso North without holding public office. He highlighted several community and empowerment programmes he had undertaken, including the employment of over 150 people through the BSQUARE Group of Companies.
He further highlighted the distribution of free JAMB forms to prospective candidates, scholarship payments for LAUTECH students, cash empowerment for over 200 traders, food distribution to more than 1,000 residents, free fuel support for commercial motorcyclists, tricycle operators and pepper-grinder owners, as well as PVC sensitisation and mobilisation campaigns.
The aspirant also noted that he had supported primary and secondary school pupils through scholarships and carried out equipment empowerment programmes involving sewing machines, grinding machines, farming tools and hairdressing equipment.
According to him, the initiatives were borne out of genuine passion for community development and not political ambition.
After what he described as deep reflection, prayers and wide consultations, Hon. Olusanjo said he decided to officially seek the PDP’s ticket to represent Ogbomoso North in the Oyo State House of Assembly in 2027.
He promised that, if elected, he would be an accessible and accountable representative, committed to youth and women empowerment, promotion of education, support for traders and the pursuit of legislative actions that would bring sustainable development to the constituency.
Hon. Olusanjo appealed to party leaders and members for support, stressing that unity and collective effort within the PDP would be key to delivering victory and development in the 2027 elections.
