Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, on Tuesday, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Youth Enterprise Development and Innovation Society (YEDIS), headquartered in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
According to the Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, the MoU, centering on partnership for entrepreneurship skills development for both the staff and students, would assist the polytechnic’s drive in making its graduates employers of labour and entrepreneurs.
While thanking the YEDIS team, led by its Executive Director and Chief Lecturer at the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Chief Dr. Rafius Olaore, the Rector commended the group for its numerous roles in the polytechnic and the larger society.
Dr. Abdul-Hameed said the MoU underscores the commitment of both the institution and YEDIS in combating unemployment and over dependence on white collar jobs.
“On behalf of our Governing Council, Management, staff and students of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, I welcome YEDIS team to our campus,” Abdul-Hameed said.
According to Dr. Olaore, the MoU is also in recognition of the institution’s commitment and giant strides in entrepreneurship development through its Centre for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (CSAED).
Olaore explained that the MoU became imperative for smooth implementation of skills and entrepreneurship development of staff and students of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State.
In his vote of thanks during the event which held at the Office of the Rector, the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, Mr. Akin Odesola, said the polytechnic is leading other six established together.
He said, “The institution is moving to the glory of God and to the credit of our amiable Rector/CEO as well as his undying passion, strength and zest for making diverse successes to happen. He is always on the road, entering offices.
“And with the efforts of the cooperating lecturers, administrators and other technical personnel, we are making progress. We were the first among our peers to offer admission to students. We started with four National Diploma programmes. Today, we have 12 and we are still aiming higher.
“We are not taking our CSAED for granted and we commended YEDIS for this MoU. We celebrate and thank you immensely.”
Speaking on the MoU, the acting Director of the institution’s Centre for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, Mr. Olúwaṣeun Owojori, said, “We thank YEDIS for its tremendous role. We cannot but thank our Rector for his staunch belief in entrepreneurship. Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State gave YEDIS a letter on what has, today, become a success.
“The MoU will offer opportunities for personalised entrepreneurship that will equip our staff and students with skills and knowledge to create job and become employers of labour.”
