Pa Mogaji Oyebamiji Olorode was a progressive to the core. His allegiance to the progressive creed, ethos and principles cannot be questioned at all. I had the opportunity of benefiting from his fountain of knowledge during 2008 to 2011 when the Action Congress (AC) in Ogbomoso zone was in a state of vegetable.
I used to accompany my leaders, Baba Akin Oke and Hon Caleb Oyaniyi, to Baba’s abode for political discussions.
His house was the venue of the ACN Zonal meeting during the journey to retake Agodi Government House in 2011.
Baba was well versed in bridging the gap of division within the party because of his political experiences which span over five decades. Pa Mogaji Oyebamiji Olorode never believed in political bitterness by isolating himself from relating with the opposition party’s members. This could be seen in eventful relationships with Late Governor Adebayo Alao Akala.
Baba Mogaji Oyebamiji Olorode was a noble Prince of Onpetu of Ijeru Royal dynasty where he served meritoriously as the Mogaji of his own ruling House till the sun set.
Late Pa Ayandele Afilu was a political partner of Mogaji Oyebamiji Olorod and the duo experienced the turbulent period of castigating those who shared Obafemi Awolowo’s political philosophy during the First, Second and Third Republics because the town was dominated by those who strongly held to the principles, philosophy and thought of Late Samuel Ladoke Akintola.
May Eledumare grant Pa Mogaji Oyebamiji Olorode eternal rest and give the family left behind the resources, wisdom and capacity to maintain his everlasting legacies.
