A new mosque, donated and built by an international non-government organisation, Al-Badru Islamic Foundation located in Iwo, Osun State, was, on Monday, commissioned at Iresa-Pupa in Surulere Local Government Area, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Welcoming the facilitator of the mosque to the community, the Rector of Federal polytechnic Ayede, Engr. Dr Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed lauded the effort of the donor for the gesture.
Dr. Abdul-Hameed explained, as Holy Prophet Muhammad puts it, that anyone that builds a house for Allah has a magnificent home in paradise.
He implored the students and others to use the mosque judiciously and propagate Islam accordingly.
While charging Muslims and Nigerians generally to follow the dictate of religious tenets, Dr. Abdul-Hameed said the country’s situation is mainly because people are not following the dictate of religious calling.
While handing the facility over to the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Federal Polytechnic Ayede chapter, the facilitator of the mosque, Al Badru Islamic Foundation, Iwo, Osun State advised the users to adhere strictly to the terms and conditions entered to between both parties.
For effective usage and maintenance of the mosque, there were donations for the purchase of generator to power the mosque in the absence electricity.
The staff and guests contributed immensely for the purpose.
Also speaking, the Aresa-Pupa of Iresa-Pupa, Oba Moses Olayiwola JP, Ajiboye III, who was accompanied by Aresa-OupaAresa-Pupa-in-Council, thanked the donors and lauded the exemplary contributions of the FEDPA Muslim Community to the development of the institution.
He said that Iresa-Pupa is habitable for all, regardless of religious ties.
Also present weren Deputy Rector (Academics), Mr Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo; Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr Mukhtar Oyewale Akintunde; Bursar, Alhaja Rashidat Titilola Oladepo, other top Management staff, staff and students of the Polytechnic.
