The Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde of State, Engr Muftau Open Salawu, under the aegis of Open Integration of Learning (OIL) Foundation, has doled out another round of scholarships to indigent students from Ogbomosoland.
Invited by Engr Salawu, the President of OIL Foundation as special guests were the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Engr Dr Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hammed; the Acting Vice Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Prof. Rasak Olatunde Kalilu and other stakeholders of education at primary and secondary school levels.
Speaking at the event tagged 6th Edition of OIL Foundation Life Line Scholarship Award, Engr Salawu, who is the Babalaje of Ogbomosoland, charged the the students and others in the community to acquire educational and digital skills and find a way of impacting the society positively.
Chief Salawu also charged the beneficiaries of the the scholarships to be good ambassadors of the community and to distinguish themselves in their endeavours.
He sought the supports of the LAUTECH and Federal Polytechnic Ayede to assist in the area of admission
In his remark, the Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomoso land, Sheikh Teliat Yunus Ayilara, commended the determination of the sponsor of the initiative.
Sheikh Ayilara said, “We are particularly proud of Engr Open Salawu for the countless contributions he has made for Ogbomoso community. Are we to talk of Federal Polytechnic Ayede or LAUTECH, his role is quint-essential and even to the entire Ogbomoso communities.
“It is our prayer that Almghty Allah will continue helping you.”
Dr Abdul-Hameed, also admonished the beneficiaries of the scholarships to make the best use of the opportunities provided by our distinguished philanthropist whose role cannot at all be quantified.
“Let me advise you all as beneficiaries of this largesse from Engr Open Salawu to read and be committed to your studies.”
Prof. Kalilu, who noted that Engr Open Salawu is a special breed, said his magnanimity in giving and helping the poor is worthy of emulation by all and sundry.
Hon. Temilola Adibi, among other political class also dwelled on the contributions of Engr Open Salawu and particularly the operation catch-them-young initiative to help the young and poor people in the community.
Pannigeriannews.com learnt that the OIL Foundation had selected all the twenty beneficiaries right from their primary days in 2018. They are now in different classes in secondary school.
