Former Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Kayode Oladele, popularly known as Kaybobo, has returned to his roots in Ekiti State with a pledge to harness sports as a tool for youth empowerment and development.
Speaking while addressing members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ekiti State chapter, in Ado-Ekiti, Oladele said his Kaybobo Youth Foundation would focus on identifying, nurturing and promoting young sporting talents across the state.
The Ado-Ekiti-born reality TV star said basketball shaped his life and career, having played for Christ School and All Souls Secondary School, Ado-Ekiti, experiences he noted exposed him to opportunities beyond Nigeria.
According to him, the foundation was created to give Ekiti youths the support he received while growing up.
“I grew up in Ado-Ekiti and learnt basketball under my coach, Tayo Awojurin. His training and belief in me took me from Ekiti to Lagos and eventually overseas, where I earned university degrees and achieved so much,” he said.
Oladele said the decision to give back was driven by his desire to help youths pursuing sports and other creative fields such as entertainment, fashion, tourism, and arts and culture.
He assured young basketball enthusiasts in the state of mentorship and support aimed at helping them build professional careers in sports.
The former BBNaija housemate also urged parents to support their children’s sporting dreams, recalling how his mother initially opposed his passion for basketball until his coach intervened.
“If not for that support, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” he added.
Oladele presented 20 customised caps to members of SWAN during the visit and pledged continuous partnership with the association.
Responding, SWAN Chairman, Qozeem Oladapo, commended Oladele’s gesture and assured him of the association’s support in promoting sports development in Ekiti State.
