In Ogbomosoland and far beyond its borders, the name Alhaji Lamidi Monsur Ayoade Ejide evokes admiration, respect and gratitude. As he marks another year of fulfilled life, it is fitting to celebrate a man whose journey reflects enterprise, compassion, faith and dedication to community development.
A successful businessman of repute, Alhaji Ejide is the founder of Ejide Enterprises Nigeria Limited, a company that has grown through discipline, vision and integrity. His achievements in commerce, however, represent only one side of his remarkable life. Beyond business, he has distinguished himself as a philanthropist and community leader whose generosity has touched lives across Oyo State and beyond.
Over the years, Alhaji Ejide, as fondly called, has received numerous awards and commendations from institutions and community bodies in recognition of his outstanding contributions to societal development and leadership.
These honours stand as testimonies to his lifelong dedication to uplifting humanity and promoting sustainable development.
One of his most notable interventions is his monumental contribution to the construction of the Ogbomoso Passport Office Building of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), where he reportedly funded about 85 per cent of the entire project. This gesture will ease access to passport services for residents of Ogbomosoland and neighbouring communities.
Very recently, Alhaji Ejide was honoured by Nigerian Flour Mills Limited with the prestigious award of “King of Semovita in Nigeria”, alongside seven additional awards, in recognition of his immense contributions to the company’s business growth and development nationwide.
A proud son of Ogbomoso, his love for education and youth development is evident in his donation of the Flour Mills Building to the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Ogbomoso, Oyo State. The edifice stands today as a symbol of his commitment to advancing technical and vocational education, as well as empowering future generations.
His passion for service extends to public administration. Before retiring in 2018, Alhaji Ejide served meritoriously at the Old National Park, where he distinguished himself as a trained economist, pragmatic administrator and development-oriented leader who contributed significantly to the growth of the agency.
More recently, his generosity was again on display when he donated Four Million Naira (₦4,000,000) towards the growth and development of Iresa-Pupa during the 8th Iresa-Pupa Day Celebration, organised by His Royal Majesty, Oba Moses Olayiwola JP, Ajiboye III, the Aresa-Pupa of Iresa-Pupa, in Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State. The donation has been widely applauded and is expected to support critical communal and infrastructural projects. Capturing the contributions of this distinguished community and religious leader has countlessly other notable contributions too many to be contained in this piece.
Indeed, his contributions represent only a fraction of his lifelong commitment to humanity. His passion for societal progress dates back to his youthful days as a student leader and activist, when he consistently championed the cause of justice, equity and a better society. That early zeal has matured into impactful development initiatives across communities.
Reflecting his philosophy of service, Alhaji Ejide once said:
“Everything I do for Ogbomoso is from a place of love. I believe that if you are fortunate enough to rise, you must lift others with you. Our town deserves greatness, and we all have a role to play.”
Beyond philanthropy and business, Alhaji Ejide is widely respected as an Islamic leader and moral compass within the community. His devotion to faith, humility and integrity has earned him admiration across religious and cultural lines, making him a unifying figure and a role model to many.
As he celebrates his birthday, Alhaji Ejide stands tall as a man of vision, virtue and service. His legacy of generosity, leadership and faith continues to inspire, leaving indelible footprints on the sands of time in Ogbomosoland and beyond.
On this day, I pray for long life in peace, sound mind, good health and multiplicity of God’s goodness upon him and all that is his.
