In the heat of the 2023 general elections, Hon. Oluremi Oladokun Onireti stood as the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, and Oriire Federal Constituency. Despite a spirited campaign and a strong grassroots presence, he narrowly lost the election by a margin of about 5,000 votes to Hon. Olamijuwonlo, son of the late former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala.
Though he did not secure a seat in the National Assembly, Hon. Onireti’s impact on the communities he sought to represent remains undeniable. Over the years, he has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the development of Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, and Oriire local government areas.
His numerous empowerment programmes have benefitted thousands across his constituency. From providing tools and resources for youths to supporting widows and the elderly and to providing basic amenities, Hon. Onireti has carved a reputation as a politician with a heart for the people. His initiatives have bridged the gaps in social welfare and created opportunities where government presence was lacking.
We share the bond of Oṣupa blood in Ogbomoso Northoval Government Area and it gives me joy to identify with him on this joyous occasion of his birth today.
