Again, the ancient Okeho town in Oke-Ogun zone of Oyo State shone brilliantly at the national scene. This is in addition to the countless feats made by sons and daughters of the ancient community.
In a remarkable achievement, Miss Balogun Azeezat Tolani, a student of Al-Balagh Model College, Isia, Okeho has made her community proud once again by emerging as the overall best female student at the 60th National Mathematics Olympiad held in Kaduna.
Competing against 23 female students and a total of 42 participants, Miss Balogun secured the 8th position overall, showcasing her exceptional mathematical talent.
The event, which attracted brilliant young minds from across the nation, saw Miss Balogun as the sole representative from her school and community. Her outstanding performance has not only brought honor to her school but has also placed Okeho on the map for academic excellence.
During the event, Balogun Azeezat had the honor of being photographed with Prof. Asiwaju Adedibu Aderemi Abass, FMAN, a distinguished academic and the Emeritus Patron for Science & Mathematics in Oyo State.
Prof. Abass has long been a supporter of educational initiatives in the region, and his presence at the event further highlights the importance of nurturing young talent in the sciences.
It is hoped that the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology will arrange a special recognition for Miss Balogun Azeezat Tolani, acknowledging her hard work and the pride she has brought to Oyo State.
A formal honor, led by Prof. Asiwaju Adedibu Aderemi Abass, would also be a fitting tribute to this young scholar’s achievement.
As Miss Balogun’s success story continues to inspire her peers, it serves as a reminder of the potential that lies within the students in her immediate community and the importance of providing them with opportunities to shine on national and international stages.
