A retired gallant and one of the foremost soilders Ogbomoso has ever produced, Col. Adegboyega Adeniran, has breathed his last at the age of 87 years.
He died after a brief illness in the early hours of Friday at Bowen University Teavhing Hospital, Ogbomoso, according to a family source.
Adeniran, a native of Onigba Compound, Osupa Area, Ogbomoso, contributed immensely to educational, agricultural and community development in Ogbomoso and its environs.
Col. Adeniran became promonent in the Nigeria’s Civil War between 1967 and 1970.
He founded the first private primary and secondary schools in Ogbomoso in Ogbomoso and its environs, Ayoka Memorial Primary School, and Adeniran Memorial Grammar School, Adeniran Area, Ogbomoso.
The Oyo State Government later took over the secondary school.
He built blocks of classrooms at Ogbomoso Grammar School, Ogbomoso High School amd Ogbomoso Girls High School which are still functional today.
Upon the establishment of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, he also released his, then, flourishing Adegolu Farms to the institution.
According to a source, the block of classrooms he built at Ogbomoso Girls High School was used as the first Vice Chancellor’s for LAUTECH.
He was known for the establishment of Adeniran Memorial Baptist Church in the same area.
He is survived by wive, chidren and grand children.
