Friday, 22nd of November, 2024 was a red-letter day in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, as the crème-de-la-crème of the legal profession converged at the Aare Afe Babalola SAN Bar Centre in Iyaganku for the 2024 Edition of the Know-Your-Law Symposium organized by the Young Lawyers’ Forum (Ibadan Branch).
The Symposium, which bordered on two main areas of Law (Aviation Law and Ethics) saw legal luminaries, towering figures, dignitaries, judges, and even Law Students from across the Country in attendance.
Ajibola Dalley, SAN, FCIArb., an Aviation Law Expert, Partner in G.R.F. Dalley & Partners, and Honorary Member of the
Africa Committee of the
Commercial Barristers Association of England and Wales and the International Trade Mark Association delivered a Keynote Address on the topic: Operational and Legal Challenges of Flight Variations and Disruptions in Nigeria: A Focus on Passenger Rights and Airline Sustainability, while Kazeem Adekunle Gbadamosi, SAN, MCIArb., Former Member of the Council of Legal Education and Honourable Justice Omolara Adeyemi of the Oyo State High Court of Justice sat on a Panel Roundtable Discussion on Ethics of the Legal Profession.
Other dignitaries present at the Symposium include Former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo State, Asíwájú Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo, SAN; Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (Ibadan Branch), Ibrahim Lawal; Chairman of the Young Lawyers’ Forum (Ibadan Branch), Timilehin Olayiwola, amongst others.
Whilst delivering the Vote of Thanks, Chairman of the Academic Board of the Young Lawyers’ Forum, Tomiwa Fadeyi, stated that the Symposium had achieved its purpose of imparting knowledge and that the Academic Board will not back down on improving the academic quality and career prospects of Young Lawyers in Oyo State by way of Continuing Legal Education.
