A former councillor of Ward 9 in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Hon. Oke Adewale Thomas, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing what he described as the selfish management of the party’s affairs by its leaders.
Hon. Oke, who is also a close associate of Hon. Adedotun Bright Oyekan, who had earlier dumped the party, said the decision became necessary following the “gale of defections” currently sweeping through the PDP, which he believes is a sign that the party may lose ground ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stated that many loyal members had become disillusioned with the manner in which some leaders run the party “to serve personal interests rather than the collective good.”
Oke declared his alignment with the political tendency led by Senator Hosea Agboola, adding that he is committed to supporting his new political family before, during and after the 2027 general elections.
He further assured that he would contribute his quota to ensuring victory for his preferred political bloc, expressing confidence that a more inclusive and transparent leadership structure would strengthen the party he has now chosen to work with.
