The Director of Centre for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (CSAED) at Federal Polytechnic Ayede, located in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Mr Oluwaseun Owojori, has advocated collaboration between National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and Opolo Global Innovations Hub on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.
Mr Owojori stated this during an event tagged “Invest in Women: Accelerate Rural Development through Innovation and Technology” to mark this year’s International Day of Women held at Opolo Innovation Hub, Otan Ayegbaju, Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State.
Owojori, a seasoned SMEs Consultant recommended that the Opolo Innovation Hub and Osun State NYSC Directorate should collaborate and partner for mutual benefits between the two bodies.
Opolo Global Innovations Limited, also known as Opolo Innovations Hub has its regional office in Osun State University, Osogbo and offices in Ife, Otan-Ayegbaju.
At the recently held event, Opolo Hub hosted youths, especially girls and corps members.
Owojori expressed that the Federal Government is giving attention to technical and vocational skills training and several supports from funding to capacity development to the scheme.
He emphasised that the mantra “Skills, Not Degree” would resolve the challenges of unemployment among the youth and expose them to the World of Work: job and wealth creation.
He expressed that programmes such as Digital Skill Training, Product Design as we’ll as Web and Software Development are available at the Opolo Innovation Hub for the optimal benefits of the corps members.
He encouraged the corps members to take up the advantage while still in the service with a promise that needed business development and financing support would be readily available.
The company official had earlier intimated the participants, which included corps members and secondary school students numbering about one hundred, on the significant importance of the women’s event for female demographics in Otan Ayegbaju.
Miss Benedicta Alalade, the Innovation Hub Administrative Officer, expressed that the International Women’s Day celebration focused on the open-minded discussion on women’s health and hygiene as well as the influence of women in innovation and technology.
Opolo Innovation, through Miss Alalade, commended Mr. Agbor Ndoma Obim, the State Coordinator of Osun State NYSC who was represented by Mr. Kazeem Aderibigbe, for releasing the corps members.
She also laude the corps members for their commitment to the event and pledged that they would continue to support and empower, especially women among the corps members.
