Nurturing holistic individuals to thrive in a dynamic world defines the fundamental ethos of higher education today. Federal Polytechnic Ayede, strategically positioned in the heart of Oyo State, embodies such ethos. A lamp of innovation since its inception in 2021 under the leadership of former President Muhammad Buhari, the institution swiftly launched an array of programmes, ranging from Statistics to Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Science Laboratory Technology; and later expanding to incorporate a broader spectrum including Estate Management and Valuation, Urban and Regional Planning, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Tourism Management Technology, Public Administration, Business Administration and Management, Accountancy, and Agricultural Technology.
Noteworthy academic accomplishments, such as the recent recognition of Miss Arinola Taiwo, a diligent ND2 student in Science Laboratory Technology, underscores the institution’s commitment to excellence. Miss Taiwo’s feat at the 2024 Women and Girls in Science Conference at YABATECH for her remarkable project on “Isolation of Microbes in Vended Fruits (Watermelon) using Agars” signifies Federal Polytechnic Ayede’s unyielding dedication to fostering a culture of scholarly achievement and practical application.
ACADEMIC FEAT
Through partnerships, students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in their chosen skill areas while still pursuing their academic studies. This initiative aims to equip students with practical skills that can make them self-reliant and job creators in the future. The Institution’s Centre for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (CSAED) under the directorship of Mr. Oluwaseun Owojori, also organizes workshops, seminars, and mentorship programmes to nurture entrepreneurial spirit among students.
SKILLS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIPS
By integrating skill acquisition into the educational curriculum, the Institution prepares students for the dynamic demands of the modern workforce. The goal is to produce graduates who are not only academically sound but also who possess valuable vocational skills. This holistic approach to education empowers students to explore diverse career paths and contribute meaningfully to society. The partnerships established by the centre facilitates a smooth transition for students from learning to real-world application.
Overall, the emphasis on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development at Federal Polytechnic Ayede underscores the institution’s commitment to producing well-rounded graduates who are adequately prepared for the challenges of the future job market. This innovative approach sets a precedence for other educational institutions to follow, ensuring that students are equipped with the necessary tools to succeed in a competitive global economy.
SPORTING ACTIVITIES
Additionally, the esteemed Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE, FNIEEE, FIPMD, FIMPC) has emphasized the importance of a well-rounded education that includes both academic excellence and participation in sporting activities, recognizing the invaluable lessons that can be learned through teamwork, discipline, and perseverance in sports. The institution aims to not only excel academically but also to produce well-rounded individuals who can compete and succeed in diverse fields, including sports.
Just this week, the final of the first ever Rector’s Cup took place at the popular Community High School, Iresa-Pupa, Surulere LGA.
As the Rector continues to promote a holistic approach to education, the students are encouraged to actively participate in sporting events, fostering a supportive environment where talents can be nurtured and students can reach their full potentials both in academia and in the realm of sports.
