Federal Polytechnic Ayede, under the visionary leadership of its esteemed Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE, FIMC, FNIEEE, FIPMD), has once again showcased its commitment to sportsmanship and excellence in sports. The institution’s football team was recently granted the prestigious “Best Legacy College of Education Ogbomoso Friendly Match Honourary Award” for their outstanding display of sportsmanship and camaraderie on the field.
In a heartwarming gesture that transcends competition, the Federal Polytechnic Ayede football team has not only exemplified skill and mastery but also set a sterling example of fair play and unity in the world of sports. This recognition affirms the institution’s zeal to holistic development and the values of teamwork, respect, and collaboration.
The commendation comes as evidence to the unflinching spirit and sportsmanship displayed by the Federal Polytechnic Ayede football team, reflecting the ethos instilled by Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed’s leadership—a leader known for his relentless support of sports and all-round development through sporting activities.
Dr. Abdul-Hameed, a distinguished figure in the academic and sports community, expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, stating, “This award is a reflection of our institution’s devotion to grooming not only academic excellence but also holistic development through sports. We believe in the power of sports to instill values that go beyond the playing field and shape character.”
In his address while receiving the award on behalf of the Institution, the Deputy Rector (Academics) Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Mr. Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo, said “The Federal Polytechnic Ayede community extends its gratitude to the Best Legacy College of Education Ogbomoso for this prestigious award and we are using this avenue to reaffirm our allegiance to fostering a culture of sports excellence, and unity.
“I must also sincerely thank our Coordinator of Sports, Mr. Bashir Bello and CoachAdetunji Adetona, for their diverse contributions and selfless services. The Institution is not taking this for granted and it is well noted.
“I will, by God’s grace, deliver this to the Rector. So, on behalf of the Rector, Management, staff and students, i receive this award and appreciate the role you and the entire team played.”
The award was presented formally to the Institution by Mr. Bashir Bello and Coach Adetunji Adetona.
