
The School of Science and Technology, Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Ogbomoso, Oyo State yesterday held the maiden edition of its Skill Acquisition and Development Programme, where 80 students and 13 staff were trained in paint production.
Speaking at the opening event, the acting Dean of the School, Dr. K. A. Abdulsalam, expressed appreciation to the Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, for his immeasurable support towards the initiative, and commended the School’s acting Heads of Department for their cooperation.
Dr. Abdulsalam urged the trainees to seize the opportunity, noting that paint production requires little capital to start.
She further applauded the facilitator, Mr. I. B. Adeshina, and his team for delivering a successful training session.
Dr. Abdusalam also appealed to the public, particularly members of the Polytechnic community, to patronise the products, assuring that they are of good quality.
In his closing remarks, Mr. R. O. Teliat, Chairman of the School’s Skill Development Committee, emphasised the School’s commitment to equipping students and staff with practical skills for self-reliance and community development.
