The Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Sheikh Talihat Ayilata, has asked a former majority leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola, to always ignore soothsayers and seers who pretend to be religious leaders, saying that societies are permeated by such unscrupulous individuals who, according to him, are enemies of progress.
It was noted that the message was for Akande-Adeola as a point of contact to the entire political class to be wary of fake prophets because of the dangers of their alleged evil doing which he said is geared towards extorting politicians.
Sheikh Ayilara made the admonition, on Sunday, at a third day fidau prayer in honour of the grand mother of Hon. Akande-Adeola, Alhaja Safuratu Abdulsalam of Agbeyangi compound, Ogbomoso, who died on June 9, 2022 at the age of 120 years.
In strong emotion, the Islamic cleric told Akande-Adeola to expect disappointments from her supporters and those she really loves, adding that whoever desires great feats will expect great disppointments.
He said, “Please, Alhaja Mulikat Akande-Adeola, expect disappointments from people. Anybody who desires something great should expect many disappointments along the way. Don’t be distracted by such disappointments; it can’t deter you.
“Those people that you truly love may dissapoint you. Those who hail your achievements may constitute your enemies. Ignore those alfas, pastors and traditional worshippers who call themselves seers. They see nothing!
“Do you know how to know they are fake? You know that two pastors said God asked them to go and obtain nomination forms of #100m. Where are the two today? Didn’t they see God? One of them didn’t get a vote at the presidential primary of a party. And they said God asked them to obtain forms.
“An Imam in Oyo State said God told him he will be Nigeria’s president come 2023. That one didn’t have the fee of #100m for nomination forms. The fake people who can’t see for themselves, how will they see for you? Some of them will say ‘Alhaja Mulikat, don’t worry, you will be elected.’ They are liars. They only want to exploit you and nothing more.”
While admonishing the Ogbomoso-born politician, the University of Ibadan trained cleric noted, “But, have great faith in any prophet that emphasises the place of prayer in your journey. In essence, I’m trying to say that anyone who doesn’t emphasise the place of prayers in your journey, who doesn’t ask you to prayer at night. Anyone who promises to make rituals in your project is of Satan.
“All of you seated here today, if you have been telling her the truth and that if you can vote and influence others, how come she didn’t win the last election? You collect her resources. You all need to desist from ‘robbing’ her. The more you collect money from her, the more wealthier she becomes, though. Those of you deceiving her, God sees you all and He will always replenish her.”
Hon. Akande-Adeola, who recently dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), represented Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire federal constituency between 2007 and 2015.
She is currently the senatorial candidate of the SDP for Oyo North senatorial district in the 2023 general election.
At the event were religious, political community groups, among others, across Ogbomoso, Oke-Ogun zone, and Oyo State in general.
