The LAUTECH Alumni Association has empowered two of its alumni, Mr Babatunde Kewejo with N1m and Mr Oludare Osunleke who recently returned his certificate to the institution with the sum of N500,000.
The global President of the Alumni Association, Mr Solomon Onilede (popularly called Limo), made the presentations to the beneficiaries on Sunday in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Mr Onilede stated that the lMr Kewejo’s donation was made by the association while he and other members of the executiive body made the donations for the member who returned his certificate was from their personal accounts.
“The money (N1m) presented to Mr Kewejo came from the pulse of the association while the N500,000 for Osunleke was the personal donation from myself and other executives.
“We felt that the donations would go a long way in providing succour to the beneficiaries and we encourage them to make good use of the donations,” Mr Onilede said.
Mr Osunleke, a 2015 graduate of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, who received a cash of N500,000, had recently stormed Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso to return his certificate and demanded a refund of his tuitions for all the sessions he spent in the institution.
From the video which went viral, Osunleke had premised his decision to return the certificate on unemployment and his inability to make it in life legitimately, despite his academic qualifications.
Though physically challenged, Mr Kewejo, who graduated from the Department of Transport Management of the institution in 2009, is a commercial taxi driver in Ibadan.
Also in a video by BBC, Kewejo shared his challenges as a physically challenged man driving taxi.

While restating the resoluteness of the association to continue providing succour to its members, Mr Onilede stressed on the financial interventions to cushion the effect of economic realities on the selected beneficiaries while also acting as a safety net during these tough times.
Kewejo thanked the ssociation for coming to his rescue and supporting his family.
