Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has conceded two commissionership slots to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) as he makes efforts to constitute his cabinet.
Sources said that the slots were, however, given to the late Governor Abiola Ajimobi faction of the APC led by his widow, Chief Mrs Florence Ajimobi.
The sources also revealed that the governor is considering appointing a Muslim as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to replace the incumbent, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun, as a means of pacifying the Muslim community in the state.
“The other group of the APC headed by the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state Teslim Folarin who lost to Makinde in the March 18, 2023 governorship election was however ignored,” the source said.
It is recalled the Ajimobi group worked against Folarin in the election to support Makinde which contributed to the landslide victory recorded by the governor.
“So, asking the group to bring two nominees for commissioner is to reward it for standing by him during the thick of the election,” it was added.
Makinde is expected to name his cabinet any moment.
