The Bishop of the Methodist Diocese, Ogbomoso, Rt. Rev. Ademola Moradeyo, has called on political office holders to always align their plans and vision with that of God for sustainable and enduring peace and development in society.
Bishop Moradeyo made the call in a sermon titled “Thy Kingdom Come” at a special tripartite thanksgiving service held in honour of Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole to celebrate his 53rd birthday, dedication of his new edifice and recent appointment as Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission.
Joined by political leaders, political associates, friends from different walks of life, followers and various groups and supporters, Akinwale led the gathering of his esteemed guests to raise a total of N25,000.00 for the church.
Taking his text from Matthew 6:9–16, Bishop Moradeyo emphasized that the Kingdom of God is peaceful and devoid of the encumbrances that disturb global harmony. He warned that leaders who fail to prioritize the happiness and well-being of their people would not escape divine judgment.
“It is important for those in positions of power to always tread the path of peace and ensure their actions are guided by God’s vision. Any leader who does not make the people happy will face the wrath of God,” he said.

While congratulating Bashorun Akinwole, whom he described as a pride of Ogbomosoland, Bishop Moradeyo expressed confidence that the appointment was a gateway to greater accomplishments.
He urged the new Chairman not to betray the trust placed in him by the people.
Bishop Moradeyo, however, lamented that some politicians and rulers have failed in their responsibilities.
He said the Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has surpassed records of good governance in the saddle, saying that Makinde’s numerous unprecedented policies have transformed the Oyo State’s economy to prosperity in different areas.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyi; the State President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE); the Permanent Secretary of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission; serving and former council chairmen; Alhaji Akibu Titilayo Efele, Ogun State Chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), among others; Heads of Local Government Administration; chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amd other parties; traditional institutions; academia, and beyond.
