Oyo Okonkwo, the coach of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), said that he is optimistic of winning two gold medals in their final games of the ongoing Comptroller-General of Customs military and paramilitary wrestling championship.
Okonkwo said, on Wednesday, that the team is determined to win two gold medals in their final game on Thursday.
The Championship is organised by the Nigeria Wrestling Federation in collaboration with the Chief of Defence Staff and Nigeria Customs Service.
NSCDC won their first gold in the Greco Roman category on Tuesday.
He said the team was determined to be among the first three teams in the championship.
“We came with six male players to contest in this championship; we won our first gold on Tuesday in the Greco Roman.
“My players won two of the semi final matches today in the freestyle category and they will win the final match on Thursday.
“The boys are determined to win their final matches and we hope to be among the first three agencies at the end of this competition,” he said.
The coach commended the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, for sponsoring the maiden edition of the championship.
“We thank him for the great job, we are all happy as wrestlers that he promised to make the championship and annual event.
“We want frequent competitions to keep the boys fit,” he said.
