The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed that its 2025 National Convention will hold as scheduled this weekend in Ibadan, Oyo State, dismissing reports of a postponement as false and politically motivated.
In a statement signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, PDP National Publicity Secretary and Secretary of the National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) Publicity and Communication Sub-Committee, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and the 2025 National Convention Organising Committee (NCOC) said the convention will take place from Saturday, November 15 to Sunday, November 16, 2025.
“The 2025 National Convention of the PDP has not been postponed but will go on as scheduled on Saturday, 15th to Sunday, 16th November, 2025 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital,” the statement said.
The party urged its members and the public to disregard what it described as “misleading claims” being circulated by certain individuals allegedly sponsored by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to create confusion.
“The NWC and NCOC urge party members and Nigerians in general to disregard misleading claims being peddled by some individuals who, it has been revealed, were recruited by the APC in its failed attempt to stop the PDP National Convention,” Ologunagba said.
He accused the APC of plotting to destabilise the opposition and impose a one-party state in the country, a move he vowed the PDP will resist through lawful means.
Ologunagba noted that PDP is working round the clock to ensure a successful convention, adding that arrangements are already in place to welcome delegates, party leaders, and supporters arriving in Ibadan.
“The NCOC and the party will continue to work assiduously to ensure a successful National Convention in Ibadan as scheduled,” the statement assured.
While thanking Nigerians for their “overwhelming support,” PDP expressed confidence that the convention would strengthen internal democracy and reposition the party ahead of future elections.
