
The President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Arc. Mrs. Mobolaji Adeniyi, has commended Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso for its commitment to gender inclusivity, academic excellence, and environmental sustainability.
Speaking during a courtesy call to the institution at the Vice Chancellor’s Office as part of the First International Conference of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Arc. (Mrs.) Adeniyi described LAUTECH as a model of excellence among Nigerian universities on gender-inclusivity, academic excellence and environmental sustainability.
Arc. Adeniyi emphasised on the emergence o Mrs. Olayinka Oyenike Balogun and Prof. (Mrs.) Adefunke Sarah Ebijuwa as Registrar and University Librarian respectively.
“It’s a delight to be here. The university is still being well maintained, and I am proud to be part of this historic conference,” the NIA President said.
“I congratulate LAUTECH for being very inclusive, especially in supporting female participation in architecture and environmental disciplines.”
The President, who also extended greetings on behalf of the national body, urged the university to support the nurturing of the Ogbomoso branch of the NIA, adding that graduates of LAUTECH’s Architecture Department have consistently distinguished themselves in the profession.
Representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rasaq Olatunde ROM Kalilu, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Strategy and Development, Prof. Tunde Adepoju Ogunkunle, welcomed the delegation to Ogbomoso and LAUTECH, describing their visit as historic.
He noted that the first international conference of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences was a milestone in the university’s pursuit of sustainability and innovation.
“At LAUTECH, we are not only gender-sensitive but also environmentally conscious,” he said, commending the organisers for their forward-thinking initiative.
He added that the recent establishment of the Faculty of Architecture further demonstrated LAUTECH’s dedication to advancing built environment education.
