The Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, has called on the Federal Government to demonstrate greater commitment to policies and programmes that will improve the wellbeing of ordinary Nigerians as the nation celebrates its 65th Independence Anniversary.
In a statement by his Senior Legislative Assistant on Media Strategy and Public Communication, Adeyemi Mikky Aremu and made available to Pannigeriannews.con on Wednesday, in commemoration of the national day, the Adedoyin, Prince of Onpetu kingdom, congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and Nigerians at large, describing the independence milestone as a testament to the resilience and unity of the people despite daunting challenges.
Hon. Adedoyin emphasised that beyond the celebrations, the anniversary should serve as a sober reminder for the Federal Government to prioritise the welfare of citizens above personal or political interests.
“At 65, Nigeria has every reason to reflect on the journey so far and make deliberate efforts to address issues affecting the masses. Our people deserve access to affordable healthcare, quality education, stable electricity, improved infrastructure, and a secure environment,” he said.
He noted that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would only have meaningful impact if the Federal Government focuses on reducing poverty, creating jobs, and ensuring food security.
“The best way to celebrate this milestone is to translate government promises into tangible development. Nigerians are hardworking and hopeful; what they require is a government that will meet their aspirations,” he added.
While congratulating citizens for their resilience and patriotism, the lawmaker urged them to remain peaceful, united, and supportive of government initiatives aimed at building a greater Nigeria.
He also charged the people of Oyo State to continue supporting the lofty agenda of Governor Seyi Makinde.
“It is my plea to all indigenes and residents of Oyo State to keep supporting His Excellency, the pride of the South-West, Engr. Seyi Makinde, our Governor and Leader and the Architect of Modern Oyo State,” he stated.
