The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Ogbomoso branch is set to make history with the inauguration of its 6th chairman, Engr. Prof. Alice Oluwafunke Oke, who emerges as the first female to occupy the position in the branch.
The inauguration ceremony, which will also feature the swearing-in of the branch’s executive committee members, is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at The Hall, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, beginning from 11:00 a.m.
The event, themed “Blended Learning in Professional Education: Lessons for Engineering,” is expected to draw prominent personalities from academia, industry, and the engineering profession across Nigeria.
President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, is billed to serve as Chairman of the Occasion, while the Vice-Chancellor of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Engr. Prof. Tayo Arulogun, will deliver the keynote address as Guest Speaker.
Other dignitaries expected at the event include Mr. Martins Akinola, Chairman of Brent Group, and Engr. Prof. Zacchaeus K. Adeyemo, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, LAUTECH, among others.
The Vice-Chancellor of LAUTECH, Prof. R. O. Rom Kalilu, will be chief host at the ceremony, while Engr. Prof. Samson Olakunle Ojoawo serves as the host.
According to the organisers, the inauguration is significant for the Ogbomoso branch of the NSE, reflecting growing inclusivity and leadership diversity within the engineering profession in Nigeria.
Others to be inaigurated alongside Prof. Oke are Engr. Prof. R. O. Abolade as Vice Chairman; Engr. Prof. M. O. Aremu as General Secretary; Engr. Prof. O. S. Olaniyan serving as Treasurer; Engr. Dr. M. O. Fajobi as Publicity Secretary; Engr. Dr. A. A. Sulaiman as Financial Secretary; Engr. S. O. A. Akinola as Technical Secretary; Engr. A. O. Oderinlo as Assistant General Secretary, and Engr. M. A. Ahmed as Assistant Technical Secretary.
Also, part of the leadership structure are Engr. Prof. S. O. Ojoawo immediate past chairman and Ex-Officio I, Engr. Prof. A. O. Ajeyoba as Chairman of Oyo State NiSafetyE, and Engr. Prof. L. O. Mudashiru as Chairman of NiMechE of Ogbomoso, while Engr. J. O. Adeyanju serves as Ex-Officio II, Engr. S.O.A. Akinola holds the position of Technical Secretary, Engr. Prof. F. N. Osuolale as APWEN chairman of Ogbomoso branch.
