The martriach of Ogunlana in Ogede compound, Ogbomoso, Late Madam Ruth Adeduntan Ogunlana, mother of the publisher/editor-in-chief of The Insight newspaper and popular ogbomosoinsight.com, has been buried today.
Late Madam Ogunlana, who was born on November 30, 1943, breatherld her last on January 17, 2023 having spent 79 years and 48 days.
She was buried in her residence at Adiatu area of Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
In his sermon at the burial service held at Orisun Iye Baptist Church, Papa Olomi, Ogbomoso, Revd Dr S.A.K. Olaleye of the International Youth Ministry of the Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary, (NBTS), Ogbomoso described the late martriach as a child of God whom, he said, served God while alive.
Meanwhile, journalists, writers and news publishers, media gurus, teachers, in hundreds, were guests of Mr Femi Ogunlana.
Among them were Barrister Abraham Ojo, a former Director in the Oyo State Ministry of Information and Chief Press Secretary to former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala; Mr Adewuyi Adegbite, columnist, writer and historian; Adelani Olawuyi, columnist and writer; Remi Oladoye, publisher of National Insight and PR and Communication consultant; Sunday Adepoju, former Nigerian Tribune journalist, Publisher of PanNigerian News and public relations consultant; Revd Peter Olaleye, a journalist, consultant and President of Ogbomoso Community Youth Forum (OCYF); Mrs Motunrayo Babatunde, a broadcaster and media consultant.
Late Madam Ogunlana is survived by children: Mr Femi Ogunlana, Mr Tunde Ogunlana, Mrs Bosede Oyeniran, Mr Dayo Ogunlana, Yemisi Ogunlana, among other grand children and relatives.
Speaking to newsmen in Ogbomoso after committing the remains of his mother to mother earth, Mr Femi Ogunlana stressed that the passage of his mother really touched him, saying “My late mother has really left a great vacuum too massive to be filled. May her soul rest in peace. Let me thank everybody that has contributed to the success of the burial programme.”
