
His Imperial Majesty, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye (Orumogege III), the Soun of Ogbomoso, has officially inaugurated the Culture and Tourism Committee for the much-anticipated 2025 Cradle Carnival, a key component of the 25-year development plan initiated by the monarch to transform Ogbomoso through culture, tourism, and strategic investment.
Hon. Olusegun Dokun Odebunmi (Bunvic), a former three-term Member of the House of Representatives and current Chairman, Board of Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority(OORBDA), has been appointed Chairman of the Committee. With his vast experience in governance, community engagement, and public service, Hon. Odebunmi is well-positioned to steer the vision of the Cradle Carnival towards lasting impact.
Serving alongside him is Akanni Oladimeji as Vice Chairman. Other distinguished committee members include Adegbile Adeomi, Benedict Ayoola, Motunrayo Babatunde, Lameed Lateefat, Afolabi Olaniran, among others.
The Cradle Carnival, which commenced in December 2024, is designed to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Ogbomoso while positioning the town as a hub for cultural tourism, economic growth, and youth empowerment.
In his remarks, Hon. Odebunmi expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Soun for the honour, stating: “This is not just a celebration; it’s a mission to reawaken our identity and create a future of pride and prosperity for Ogbomoso. It is a selfless assignment. Let’s all join hands to make it impactful and historic.”he stated
