The Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomoso, Sheikh Dr. Taliat Yunus Olushina Ayilara II, has inaugurated new Imams for the Muslim community of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, with a call for unity, discipline and devotion to Allah.
The inauguration took place during a special convocation Jumat prayer held at the institution’s mosque, where the Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, urged members of the Muslim community to embrace unity of purpose in order to move the institution forward.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Abdul-Hameed advised Muslims on campus to make effective use of the mosque now that the Polytechnic has a substantive Imam.
He encouraged regular attendance at congregational prayers and appealed for forgiveness from anyone he might have offended in the course of discharging his duties as Rector.
He noted that although misunderstandings are inevitable in leadership, he had forgiven all those who might have offended him over the years.
In his remarks, the Grand Chief Imam, who performed the turbaning of the new Chief Imam, Imam Mubarak Yahyah, admonished him to uphold integrity and avoid actions capable of tarnishing his image.
He specifically warned against the pursuit of materialism and immoral conduct, urging him to remain steadfast and focused on his religious responsibilities.
He also advised the Naibul Imam and the Mufaseer to steer clear of controversies and work harmoniously for the progress of the Muslim community.
The Deputy Rector (Academic) and Chairman of the Polytechnic Muslim Community, Dr. Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo, formally presented letters of appointment to the new Imam and other officials during the ceremony.
In his first sermon after leading the Jumat prayer, Imam Mubarak Yahyah emphasised the importance of gratitude to Almighty Allah.
He urged worshippers to cultivate the habit of thanksgiving and to abstain from associating partners with Allah. The new Imam commended the institution’s principal officers for the achievements recorded so far and prayed for continued divine guidance and elevation for them.
He also advised the graduating students to remain grateful to God and remain steadfast in their academic and life pursuits.

Dr. Taofeeq Adekunle Abdul-Hameed; Deputy Rector (Academic), Dr. Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo; the Bursar, Alhaja Rasheedat Oladepo; Deputy Bursar, Mr. Lukman Buari; Governing Council member, Alhaji Modu Minta; Chief Imam of Iresa-Pupa, Imam Abdulwaheed AbdulAzeez; Director of Academic Planning, Engr. Dr. T. M. Adepoju; Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Saheed Abiodun Tijani; and other staff and members of the Muslim community.
