The Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has revealed that efforts are underway to ensure 24 hours power supply as a way of further promoting manufacturing and seamless production process in the State.
Governor Abiodun who made this known at a breakfast meeting with chief executive officers and captains of industries held in Abeokuta, said the initiative tagged, “Light Up Power Project,” would bring ease to industrial activities.
He noted that power generation is the focus of his second term in office, pointing out that it is aimed at ensuring 24 hours uninterrupted power supply across the length and breadth of the State.
The State’s helmsman said that the project, which is in collaboration with the private sector would become a reality before the expiration of his tenure as we seek the successful acquisition of Power Plant at Olorunsogo, adding that the government is working with relevant stakeholders having identified the need to increase gas supply to industrial clusters, especially the Agbara axis.
” As a promise keeping Governor, I want to assure you as a responsible and responsive administration that we will continue to collaborate with stakeholders across board. Let me inform you that power generation is the focus of our second term under the Light Up Project initiative which seeks to ensure 24 hours uninterrupted power supply in Ogun State. This would be achieved before I leave office in 2027.
“We drew transportation plan to determine the connection among road, rail and air transportation and our efforts are yielding result. We have constructed over 500km of road since we came on board,” he said.
The Governor who admonished the investors to do more in the areas of corporate social responsibility, assured them of government commitment to infrastructure and other factors that promote the ease of doing business, just as he promised there would be a regular quarterly breakfast meeting with CEOs going forward. He also assured that all the critical issues raised by the Investors will be addressed.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela,described the operating environment of industrial organisations and prospective investors as a top priority of the Abiodun led government, just as he assured that the government will not relent in sustaining its developmental policies and evolve new ones to keep Ogun on the path of economic growth and global competitiveness.
The Chairman, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter, Mr. George Onafowokan, appreciated Governor Abiodun for the the value adding interaction with CEOs, describing Ogun as the industrial capital and home of domestic direct investment in Nigeria
