Igoche Initiator of Mark D’ Ball Basketball Championship, has charged the Nigerian senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress to aim at the “bull’s eye”.
This was after their impressive victory on Monday against Australia at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics.
The six-time Afrobasket Champions led by Rena Wakama, displayed incredible resilience and determination throughout the contest to defeat a third FIBA ranked team 75-62.
Ezinne Kalu led the way for D’Tigress with a game-high 19 points, complemented by five assists, five rebounds, and three steals.
Amy Amukamara also impressed with 14 points, six rebounds, nine assists, and four steals, while Amy Okonkwo contributed 13 points.
Mark urged the ladies to use the triumph against Australia as a springboard to greater heights and return home with an Olympic medal.
“Your victory today is not just a win on the court; it is a victory for the entire nation.
“This performance has demonstrated that you are a force to be reckoned with on the global stage.
“Use this victory as fuel to propel you forward, and set your sights on the ultimate prize, the Olympic Gold Medal,” he said.
He charged the girls to embrace the challenge, and let nothing stand on their way to achieving something great for the nation.
Mark said that the triumph should not be seen as the end of their journey, but rather as a springboard to greater heights.
“A podium finish is within your grasp, and I have no doubt that you have the ability to bring home an Olympic medal.
“Onwards to the bull’s eye, D’Tigress,” he said.
The D’Tigress will take on hosts France in their second game on Aug.1, before facing Canada on Aug. 4 in their final group game.
