The Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly and lawmaker representing Ogbomoso South State Constituency, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, has facilitated the return of several aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had earlier defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to return to the Peoples Democratic Party.
According to a statement made available to Pan-Nigerian News on Monday by his Senior Legislative Assistant on Media Strategy and Public Communication, Mr. Adéyemí Mikky Arẹmu, Hon. Adedoyin played a pivotal role in the reconciliation process by hosting the former SDP members in a special meeting aimed at mending fences and restoring unity within the party.
Adedoyin said, “What seems as illusion or impossibility became a reality yesterday as I, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, the member representing the good people of Ogbomoso South State Constituency in my pragmatic and people-oriented approach to politics, human relations and even as a bridge builder, hosted, convinced, received and welcomed Ogbomoso South Social Democratic Party (SDP) members and their executive back to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
The statement said that, like the powerful football agents, George Mendes and Pinihi Zhavi, Hon. Adedoyin bargained free transfer of the SDP loyalists who are core supporters of the former Majority Leader of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Alhaja Mulikat Akande-Adeola back to PDP.
While hosting the leaders, executive and members of the SDP to a meeting yesterday, they agreed to return to the home where they are part of the building blocks before their political adventure in the desert.
The returnees said they were convinced to return based on the convincing performance of Hon. Adedoyin and his pragmatic ideology of politics, his accessibility and politics without bitterness or sentiments.
While responding, Hon. Adedoyin thanked them for their resolve to heed his clarion call to return home, saying “nowhere like home no matter what issues you might have in your family” and assured them of justice, equity and fairness as they returned.
The former SDP members were charged and admonished to go to their various wards for re-integration and continue to contribute their quota to the membership drive and grassroots mobilization at their various wards as we approach 2027 general election.
The new members promised to attend their next wards and local meeting.
“It’s noteworthy that while others are pushing and driving party members away, we are building bridges and healing old wounds to mobilize grassroots into the party fold,” he added.
