The dawn of this brand new day came, interestingly coinciding with the birth anniversary of an icon, enigma, businessman, consultant, politician, philanthropist, humanist, lover of the poor and the vulnerable, among others, Hon. Olufemi Oladokun Onireti, who has really written his name in gold in different spheres.
Among others, Hon. Onireti, the CEO of Dohertis Global Resources Limited in the United States and Nigeria, is a graduate of the prestigious Staffordshire University where he bagged a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).
Indeed, he is our jolly good leader and that has been echoed and re-echoed by people that have come across him in different climes, including in the Oyo State political and business spaces and Ogbomoso in particular. He has demonstrated that politics should be practised with the basic aim of putting the people as the centre and not just to amass wealth and corner the common wealth of the public.
This, I think, Hon. Onireti, a proud son of Akinsin Compound, Osupa in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State, holds to dearly as evident in the last election and after, despite the outcome of the election where he contested the Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South and Oriire federal constituency seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the distinguished leadership of the People’s Governor and Architect of Modern and Progressive Oyo State, His Excellency, Sir (Engr.) Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde.
I also celebrate you because, even, in your month of birth, our Governor will be re-inaugurated for another four years of progressive and development-driven government.
My leader is a recipient of many awards too numerous to mention here. He bagged the NIPR excellence award on Community Development. The founder and chairman of the Onireti Foundation, Hon. Olufemi Onireti, was honored with an award of excellence on “Community Development” by the Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), in Ibadan.
He was awarded based on the noble institute’s recognition of his numerous humanitarian gesture with the motive of providing succor to all and sundry over the years.
Few among several contributions to rural development, health, and education sectors in the Oriiire, Ogbomoso North, and Ogbomoso South local government areas of Oyo State are the reconstruction of Osupa road culvert in front of Abo Compound, organising the Olufemi Onireti Quarterly Quiz Competition with a golden prize of HP laptop, merit award and #50,000 each to contestants between first and third positions, series of regular empowerments programmes for artisans and market women, drilling of six boreholes in the three local government areas, donation of a laptop to Ogbomoso Grammar School, provision of reliefs to patients at Bowen University Teaching Hospital (BUTH), Ogbomoso, payment of WAEC and UTME registration fees for students in his constituency, installation of street lights in Osupa area, amongst others.
Also, during the cash crunch hardship in the country, my leader donated all his campaign buses to convey residents of Ogbomoso within the metropolis. This unprecedented gesture has been lauded by all and sundry.
