Potable water provision in the five local government areas of Ogbomoso zone is to receive further boost as the Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III announces fifty boreholes will be provided, ten per local government.
The traditional ruler who first made the announcement few weeks ago during a press conference at the palace reiterated Thursday at a townhall meeting held at Ajaawa, headquarters of Ogo-Oluwa local government, that the first batch of the project had already commenced.
“50 boreholes would be provided and we will put ten in each local government of the zone. The first batch which will accommodate ten has already commenced,” he declares.
The monarch revealed that the project is being funded through the efforts of some of his friends whom he reached out to and other well-meaning individuals including indigenes, emphasizing his commitment towards the transformation of Ogbomosoland in all ramifications.
He said, “Water is vital as it is a prerequisite for good health, good water drives away illnesses,” while charging all indigenes to strive to contribute to the development of their communities even as he promised Ajaawa would be a beneficiary town.
Some other traditional rulers whose domains have been cited as beneficiaries are Orisatolu of Isapa Kingdom, Iba of Iyaoje, Oluwofin of Iwofin, Onijabata of Jabata and Onilagbedu of Lagbedu.
Oba Olaoye maintains collective efforts and cooperation will elicit the development of the zone.
Recall that at the beginning of his reign early 2024, the Oba mobilised resources for the reviltalization of the Ogbomoso Water Scheme, with water now flowing in pipes in the old network points. He has also rehabilitated some boreholes, which are now functional.
The indefatigable Ogbomoso Oba has not relented in efforts to make the zone a model one.
