The Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, officially flagged off the registration process for participants of the maiden Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival on Wednesday.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Ogbomoso Hospitality Committee under the leadership of Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola, aims to gather data and details of participants to enhance planning and development for future editions of the carnival.
Speaking at the registration point, Hon. Mulikat Akande Adeola emphasized the importance of the exercise, stating that the collected details would be instrumental for subsequent planning and community development. She also disclosed that two registration points had been established to cater to both local and international tourists as well as indigenes attending the event.
She urged all participants to ensure they register for the event to enable better coordination.
Commending the initiative, Oba Ghandi described the registration as a vital step in ensuring the success of the carnival.
He called on all attendees to register and contribute to the smooth organization of subsequent editions.
The first-class monarch was accompanied by prominent personalities, including traditional chiefs, a representative of the Minister for Culture, Arts, and Creative Economy; Oyo State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun and the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade; Chairman ogbomoso North local government area, Hon. George Ogunlade; committee members, among others.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Hon. Williams Adeleye, stressed the significance of the registration process, noting that it would not only provide an accurate count of attendees but also aid in planning for future editions.
The Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival is set to commence on December 19, promising to be a historic and memorable event for all participants.
