The Soun of Ogbomosoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, is set to resume his interface with the people of Ogbomoso zone tomorrow Wednesday, June 18, at the hall of the Anglican Grammar School, Sabo.
The townhall meeting fixed for 3pm according to a statement by Peter Olaleye, Special Assistant on Media and Community Relations to the Oba, is expected to be attended by the residents of Ogbomoso North local government area.
On Thursday June 12 the public engagement took off in Ogbomoso South at the Lagbami Osekun Civic Centre with a tumultuous crowd welcoming the Oba.
The occasion was an avenue for the traditional ruler to share his development agenda with the people while he welcomed questions from the people.
The monarch plans to visit all five council areas in the zone for the meetings.
“In continuation of his developmental agenda consultation, the Soun of Ogbomosoland His Imperial Majesty Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, will on Wednesday June 18th meet with the people of Ogbomoso North local government for the same reason he had met with the people of Ogbomoso South,” the statement begins.
“Recall that Oba Olaoye made known his good intention to meet with the people at the grassroots level across the five local government areas of Ogbomoso zone, starting Thursday, June 12, 2025.
“The purpose is to engage the people and discuss the idea of the envisioned Greater Ogbomoso with them.
“The Kabiyesi had unveiled a 25 year -development plan to transform Ogbomoso zone, which is on course and has been yielding positive results.
“The vision is very dear to Oba Ghandi Olaoye and so he is determined to carry every stakeholder in the Ogbomoso project along in order to give it the necessary push and vim.
“His Majesty has been engaging the elite through various platforms but since he believes everyone has a role to play he has decided to engage the generality of the people to accommodate diverse ideas, opinions and inputs towards strengthening the agenda, and to foster unity and cooperation. Collectively, we can move mountains.
“As we have informed you earlier, the town hall meetings will hold across the five local government areas of Ogbomosoland and everyone with the interest of of Ogbomoso zone at heart is encouraged to attend to have a fruitful interface with our Oba who has continuously demonstrated he is 21st century-compliant.
“The first meeting had been held on Thursday, 12th June, 2025, at Lagbami Osekun Civic Centre, Ogbomoso South Secretariat premises.
“Meanwhile, on this Wednesday, 18th June, 2025, also starting 3:00pm at Anglican Grammar Schooll Hall, that of Ogbomoso North will hold.
“The schedules for other local governments will be duly communicated to us.
“Kabiyesi looks forward to seeing us, sons and daughters of Ogbomosoland, and all non-indigenes who have taken Ogbomoso as their second home to plan to attend. If we don’t chart the path forward it’s doubtful if anyone would do it for us. Let’s strive together to turn our fortune around for the better.”
