President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors-designate, comprising 31 non-career and 34 career diplomats, to Nigeria’s foreign missions across the world, including the United Nations.
The development was announced in a statement on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who noted that the ambassadors were confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
The statement read in part, “Among the prominent non-career appointees, former presidential aide Reno Omokri was posted to Mexico City, Mexico, while former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode will serve in Germany. Former Minister of Health Isaac Folorunso Adewole has been assigned to Canada, while former Chief of Army Staff Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau will head Nigeria’s mission in China.

According to the Presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Nigeria) has already received agrément—the formal diplomatic approval—from the United Kingdom for High Commissioner-designate Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu. France has also approved the posting of Ambassador Ayo Oke.
The ministry has also forwarded the nominations of the remaining 62 envoys to their respective host countries, requesting agrément in line with established diplomatic procedures.
President Tinubu further directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately begin the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners before they assume duties at their respective missions.
The postings are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement and representation across key global capitals and multilateral institutions.
