It is with a profound sense of loss, yet with gratitude for a life well-lived, that we bid farewell to Deaconess Maria Mosumola Akintola, a woman of grace, faith, and unwavering love. Born in 1940, she was the first child of my dear father’s younger sister, and through the years, she stood as a pillar of strength, wisdom, and kindness within our family and beyond.
Auntie Mosun, as fondly called, was more than a cousin; she was a beacon of light, a woman who radiated warmth, embodying the virtues of humility, patience, and selfless service. She carried the weight of responsibility with dignity, ensuring that those around her felt nurtured, comforted, and supported. Her life was a testimony to resilience, faith, and an enduring commitment to family, community and humanity.
As a Deaconess, she served God with all her heart, using her voice and deeds to spread love and uplift those in need. She was a mother not only to her own children but also to many who found solace in her wisdom and unwavering encouragement. In times of joy, she celebrated with an open heart; in times of sorrow, she was a pillar of strength, ever ready with prayers and words of comfort.
Her passing on March 14, 2025, leaves a void that words cannot fully capture. But we take solace in the fact that she lived a purposeful life, filled with faith, kindness, and service. Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched, in the love she shared, and in the faith she imparted to all who knew her.
As we lay her to rest on March 20, 2025, we do not mourn without hope. Instead, we celebrate a life beautifully lived—a journey completed with grace and dignity. We entrust her into the loving hands of the Almighty, knowing that she now rests in eternal peace.
Goodnight, Deaconess Maria Mosumola Akintola. Your love, your light, and your legacy remain forever in our hearts.
May her soul rest in peace.
