The pioneer and current rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Oyo State, Dr Taofeeq Adekunle Abdud-Hameed, has harped on the need for government at all levels to leverage entrepreneurship as a way of ameliorating the economy.
Dr Abdul-Hameed stated this yesterday at the 2022 World Entrepreneurs Day Roundtable Meeting held at GMT Event and Hall, Ring Road, Osogbo, Osun State capital.
The Polytechnic is one of the six Polytechnics established by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in February, 2021.
Themed “Leveraging on new technologies to maximise the human resources performance and profitability in the new normal”, Dr Abdul-Hameed, who was the special guest of honour at the event and represented by his personal assistant on academics/ administration and chief lecturer, Mr Abul-Azeez Ojo, said it is imperative to celebrate entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
He added that entrepreneurship involves innovation, creativity, wealth and jobs creation in Nigeria, even, amidst her myriad of economic challenges.
The Iwo-born scholar cum engineer, who noted that entrepreneurs are an engine room/indicators of development of any economy, also congratulated and presented successful entrepreneurs the ‘Award of Outstanding Performing Entrepreneurs’.
He congratulated the organisers of the event, especially Mr Oluwaseun Owojori and Chrisgold Consulting LLC.
