A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and chairmanship aspirant in Ogo Oluwa local government area of Oyo State, Hon. Olayemi Adejare Afolabi, has called on the leadership of the party in the state to investigate and intervene in what he called crises rocking the party in the area and the process of electing candidate for the chairmanship election ahead the grassroots election slated for next year.
Afolabi, a philanthropist and liberator, who hinted that many crises are rocking the party in Ogo-Oluwa LGA, advised Governor Seyi Makinde and the party’s leadership at the state level to investigate and intervene in the selection process for peace to reign.
He advised the people of the council area to continue supporting his aspiration, saying that truth would always prevail.
He countered the rumoured declaration of an aspirant as the candidate of the party, saying that “it is a dent on the name of our good party that is built by our amiable Governor.”
Pannigeriannews.com reports that there are crises in many local government areas towards picking the councilorship and chairmanship candidates.
Hon. Afolabi, from Opete ward (09), called on the leadership of the party in the state and the area to caution, what he called, unscrupulous tendencies wanting to clinch the party’s ticket ahead of the grassroots election slated for next year.
He added, in particular, that the claim that the present chairman of the council area, Hon. Seun Ojo, is the sole aspirant in the party in the council area is a strategy to mute the voices of others in the race.
Hon. Afolabi, the current the supervisory councillor for mobilisation and intergovernmental affairs in the council area, stated this in an interview with pannigeriannews.com today.
He advised the leadership of the party in the state to ensure that justice prevails in the process of electing the party’s candidate for the grassroots elections.
Popularly called Ola Ogo for GSM, Hon Afolabi, said, “Sometimes, the powers that be delibrately sideline those of us with good vision for our communities and LGA. Some top notable leaders of impeccable character have been barred from the process. There are other critical areas that we want the state leadership to look into for justice, equity, fairness and transparency.
“I’m cock-sure that the People’s Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, the pride of the South-West and Nigeria as a whole, has written his name in gold and will not want the good image tarnished by desperate tendencies.
“My dear supporters and beyond, let us continue supporting and praying for Gov. Makinde, our God-sent-man of the people.
“A lot crises are rocking our LGA and I beseech the Governor and party’s leadership at the state intervene and investigate the party in LGA with a view to having peaceful process of electing our party’s candidates.
“I want to advise every stakeholder in our LG area to stand for the party and the council as a whole. I thank you all for the confidence reposed in me.
“Though I don’t like attacking personality, I wish to state categorically that a good observer of trends in our council will not forget in a hurry the inhuman treatment meted on our people.”
Pannigeriannews.com learnt that Hon. Afolabi built the first ever party secretariat for the PDP in Ogo Oluwa local government area.
