The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Alumni Association has lauded the 2005 set of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering for donating Antenna Trainer Kits to their department.
The 2005 EEE Set, on Thursday, donated the kits with the aim of supporting quality education in line with the Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Edication.
The kits, Pannigeriannews.com learnt, were also designed to enhance the learning experience of students learning anyenna theory and designdesign, providing them with practical hands-on that complementary their theoretical knowledge.
Speaking at the donation event, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Rasaq Olatunde ROM Kalilu, represented by the General Secretary of the Alumni, Prof. Azeem Ige, said the contributions of LAUTECH Alumni Association are enormous and commendable.
He added that the such contributions are always noted by the management.
The global President of the Alumni body, Hon. Olalekan Badmus, was represented by the global Public Relations Officer (PRO), Dr. Obasanjo Babalola.
Hon. Badmus, in a press statement signed and made available to newsmen by the global PRO, Dr. Obasanjo Babalola, commended the EEE ’05 Set for the good gesture towards the department.
Hon. Badmus noted that the role of alumni body, as a major stakeholder in any institution, cannot be underestimated.
The statement read in part, “The global body of LAUTECH Alumni Association is witnessing another milestone as our very distinguished 2005 Set of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering generously donated Antenna Trainer Kits to their department.
“This is highly laudable and worthy of emulation by other sets at different levels under the global body.
“The contributions of our association are noticeable in different areas. We have built a 1500-capacity event centre for public use. Also worthy of mentioning is the scholarship scheme for indigent students begun during the tenure of Hon. Solomon Onilede and sustained by the current regime.
“We have also established capital project fund.
“Our association is one of the strongest stakeholders. Our alumni are now being awarded honorary doctorate degrees from the university. During the last administration, Dr. Tayo Adiatu received one and just during this year’s edition, Engr, Dr. Yinka Ajao also was honoured.
“I, therefore, on behalf of the global body, thank the donors and congratulate the students of the department, the department and LAUTECH as a whole on the gifts.
“I, however, want to charge others at individual and set levels to always find a way of giving back to the their departments, faculties and LAUTECH in general.
“This will, indeed, complement the efforts of the institution, donors beyond Ojo State and that of the government of Oyo State.”
The statement also congratulated the Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Prof. (Mrs.) Fola Semire, who, on behalf of the department, received the kits
